Put together a poke that looks like you

Close to the Pantheon at Ono Poké, meet Margot Amzallag and Guillaume Fray, two French expats who travelled back and forth to Los Angeles and Hawaii in order to bring back that famous recipe. Whether flavours are traditional or updated, the rich and filling poke bowl is served in three different sizes with tuna, salmon, white or smoked fish, but also chicken, duck or dried meat. A veggie is also available with tofu instead.
The accompanying base could be rice, spelt, quinoa or Chinese cabbage. If you wish to add some colour to the dish, decorate it with fennel or radish, or fruits like avocado, papaya, pomegranate and mango. You can also totally customize the dressing and choose coriander, alfalfa sprouts, wasabi flavoured sesame seeds in soy or yuzu sauces. As for desserts, try the coconut milk poke mixed with sushi rice, red berries, pumpkin seeds and chocolate chips.

Poke bowl take away at Ahipoke

When you enter the restaurant, every bit of decoration shouts “Hawai”, from the wicker light fixtures to the incredibly exotic suspended plants. Before you get to enjoy that delicious traditional dish with Japanese overtones in the comfort of your home, you'll have to make it up from scratch on site. Choose your base ingredient – white or vinegar rice – with tuna, salmon or a mix of both dressed with soy sauce. Refine your own recipe by adding mango or cucumber for freshness, edamame, peanuts or fried onions for the crunchiness and wasabi for the spiciness. For a sweet aftertaste, go for the green tea tirami su or the yuzu panna cotta.

Fuumi's Mexican-Japanese pokes

With a decoration at turns Mexican and Japanese, Fuumi arranges cacti and graffiti in a same street art move. As for your plate, choose among the many ingredients and look at your poke coming to life in front of you. Choose the Tijuana poke for instance, served in a cardboard bowl and consisting of shrimp in curry, carrots, red cabbage, bean sprouts, sweet potatoe, peanuts and coconut curry sauce. For more Asian flavours, try the Sumo and its mix of salmon, carrots, bean sprouts, red cabbage, guacamole, ginger, cream cheese with a honey sesame dressing. If you feel like more dressing, sweet soy sauce is in self-serve. And if you liked that combination of Mexican and Japanese flavours, you will love their second speciality: burrito sushi!
