During your stay in Naples, plan to spend one or two days on the most beautiful island in its bay: Capri. Rugged landscapes cut through by stairways and glimmering turquoise waters have earned the island its international renown. After a short trip of between 45 and 1h20 minutes (if you choose a fast hydrofoil or a traditional ferry boat) to Marina Grande, the tramway carries you to the city of Capri. Its little “piazetta” is the true heart of the island, with its lively terraces and luxury boutiques. For swimming, south-facing Marina Piccola offers pretty little beaches and a sublime view of Capri's famous Faraglioni rock formations.
A totally different ambience awaits you in the town of Anacapri. To get there, climb Marina Grande's 800-step Phoenician stairway. There, visit the beautiful Villa San Michele d'Axel Munthe (property of the State of Sweden), before roaming Anacapri's tiny side streets. Finally, visit the mythical marine-blue seaside cave Grotta Azzura, surrounded by beaches carved from the cliffs.
